The sky was so clear and a beautiful shade of blue when I left work last night. I didn't have my tripod so I tried to steady my camera on the fence and quickly shot this image. I was in such a rush to try and capture this scene before the sun set completely that I forgot to reset my ISO setting to manual. The camera used an ISO of 3200 for this image. I did apply a small amount of noise reduction, but overall not bad. The Nikon D90 is outstanding in low light situations.

A view of the pool at the hotel we are staying in. We haven't had much time to be outdoors since arriving yesterday. Our son and his girlfriend met us at the hotel and we went out to dinner last night. We were hoping to be able to see Michael again today before we head home, but it is not to be. Michael is a student at Maine Maritime Academy and his schools training ship is heading out on a 60 day trip. We were disappointed that he is unable to get leave so that we could see him one more time before we head home.

Another Irish post today, but this time out of the city! This was taken at the Rock of Cashel, the castle was behind me, when I looked over the wall I was pleasantly surprised to see the sheep there.

After being away for 10 days, I am swamped both at home and work and have had no time to get out and take pictures. Hopefully this weekend I can get back in the swing of things.

Another shot from the Memorial Day Parade yesterday. The Boys Scouts put together a pretty cool float. It depicted the different aspects of camping. There was a tent, a pond with scouts fishing, campfire, and the final piece was this outhouse. I didn't expect this when it went by. What a good sport this guy is!

"Who's turn is it to turn the hot tub back on!"

Sorry, but I had to post yet another snow scene. As of the last storm, the Boston area has received 44.7 inches to date. Probably half of that is still on the ground. We have already exceeded our average snowfall for the season. I wonder how much more the next two months will bring, brrrrrrrr!

This is a sculpture that is in my town, when I saw it buried in the snow I just knew that I had to photograph it. The name of the piece is "Touching Souls" by Mico Kaufman. The piece consists of four children, native-American, European-American, African-America and Asian-American, sitting on the ground, arms leaning back, legs outstretched and apart, with the soles of their shoes/boots touching all of which cannot be seen with the recent snowfall we have had.

The full sculpture can be seen at http://sculpturesbymico.com/touchingsouls.htm

"Stairway to Freedom"

"Since the 1773 mass protest meetings that led to the Boston Tea Party, Old South Meeting House has served as a gathering place for discussion and celebration and a haven for free speech", http://www.oldsouthmeetinghouse.org/default.aspx

This is the spiral stairway that is located in the main entrance of the "Old South Meeting House" in Boston. I picked up my daughter from school and took her out for lunch. Definitely one of the perks of having her attend a local college. The weather was wonderful today, mid 40's and the sun was out. We had a nice afternoon walking around Fanueil Hall and the Freedom Trail. Being Super Bowl Sunday, everything was pretty deserted.

Ugghhhh, as I post this daily the weather forecast is reporting that another snow storm will be upon us on Tuesday. Spring can't come soon enough.

Thank you all very much for all the comments on yesterdays photo, I am blown away that it took the number one spot. There were so many wonderful images posted I wish I had been able to comment on all of them. Thank you again, I know how busy everyone is and I truly appreciate each and every comment.

We are in Rockland, Maine for the weekend. My son's ship is returning to it's home port and we will be on the ship with him for its final leg back to port. Supposedly we have an ocean view room, but the fog is so thick the visability is approimately 50 yards. This is the view from our room, I can smell the ocean so it has to be out there right..... :-).

"8 Weeks Until Spring"

Another day another snow storm! Yesterday brought another eight inches on top of the foot or so we already have. I didn't intended for this to be a photo of the day. Originally I took it to send to my in laws who are wintering in Florida, so that they could see what they are missing. This is my deck illuminated by the two outdoor lights next to the door. I setup my tripod and while I stayed in the house nice and warm, opened the door just enough for the camera and fired away. I played around with it in PS, ended up converting to B&W and then applied the Topaz Adjust plug in for the final result.

Thank you all for the posts on yesterday's daily, I really appreciated all the feedback. This has been a challenging, albeit enjoyable, past 29 days. There are so many talented people who post here each day. I am so inspired by all the wonderful creative images I see here every day.
